The Soldier’s Camera
Inspired by a Kodak Vest Pocket Special I found and repaired from my dad, I created a body of work exploring war, violence, and masculinity, and what those themes mean to me. The Kodak Vest Pocket Special was originally released during World War I and became known as “The Soldier’s Camera” for its portability, but it also led to new restrictions on photography at the frontlines due to the graphic realities that soldiers were able to record.
